Top 10 Best Baratza Encore Conical Burr Coffee Grinder Black Friday Deals 2023

Baratza’s Encore grinder is an entry-level model that is priced lower than the more expensive models. The Encore is a true champ thanks to its outstanding build quality, superior motor and gear system, as well as a wide range of grind settings. Let’s look at the key features that make this grinder stand out in the highly competitive burr grinder market.

This grinder was made to be an easy-to-use tool for beginners. Although it may not have the same fancy features as higher-priced grinders, it is still very user-friendly. The Encore’s high-torque DC motor with new gearbox ensures that the 40mm diameter conical stainless steel burrs spin at a constant 550 RPM. This slow speed reduces heat and noise in the grinder, while also ensuring that beans are evenly distributed among the burrs.

The Encore burr grinder is an entry-level model, but it still delivers strong performance and durability. You will get a better grind than any blade grinder or disk-burr grinder, although they are more common among sub-$50 models, but are not as consistent as the Encore’s conical steel burrs. The Encore will give you a better brew.

Although the Encore produces some dust, which is known as ‘fines’, it is not nearly as much as other entry-level grinders. You can always remove it from the grinds if it bothers you. However, this is not necessary. The grounds are better than any other at this price point. If you are looking for consistency, either invest in a manual grinder or spend a lot more money. The Encore is not suitable for espresso.

Although you can probably get a shot out of the Encore, it won’t be exceptional. You can do it in a pressurized container (which is easier) but it won’t work well in a regular portafilter. The Encore is strong and durable, but it shares many characteristics with powered coffee grinders. The top of the Encore has a transparent beanhopper that allows you to feed whole beans into conical burrs.

They rotate very closely, but with a small gap between them. These burrs are made from heavy steel and have sharp edges for grinding. The mechanism separates beans as they fall between the burrs. These ground are then placed in the Encore’s plastic bin. You can adjust the grind size (fine, coarse or medium) by turning the bean hopper to the left or right. This causes the space between the burrs in the bean hopper to shrink or contract.

There are 40 coarseness settings available on the Encore, with graduated positions at the base of each bean hopper. The Baratza Encore has the ability to grind coffee fine enough to make espresso, or coarse enough to make traditional French presses. This grinder is certainly more flexible than the Oxo Barista Brain Conical Burr Grinder which has 15 coarseness settings.

The Encore coffee grinder is an excellent entry-level option. The Encore is automatic and has 40 settings to achieve the perfect grind. It is also super simple to use. It produces a consistent grind for all brewing methods, which allows you to make a great cup of coffee with minimal effort. The grind range is 250 to 1200 microns for those who are more technically inclined.

This means you can relax if you prefer more than one method of brewing. The 40mm steel burrs are conical in shape and rotate at 550 RPM. This slow rotation speed is good for coffee as it prevents static buildup and heat buildup, which could otherwise affect the taste of your coffee grounds. Thermal overload protection is included in the gearbox.

This means that if the motor driving your burrs overheats, the gearbox will cut out. The Encore is a grinder that can prepare 10 batches at once. I have used it every day and it has never failed to do so. The material of the gears can make sure your device works quietly. Baratza Encore’s latest gears are made of 15% thermoplastic glass.

This is an improvement on the previous all-metal version. This results in a decrease in noise, improved wear time and shock resistance. With an 8 oz capacity, the hopper can hold enough coffee to grind and blend enough at once. Both holders are compatible with grinders at higher levels, including those that have a 5-ounce grounds bin. Although we don’t like plastic, this entry-level grinder is acceptable at this price.

The plastic casing is strong and durable. The 40 mm Etzinger conical stainless steel burrs produce medium to coarse grinds. The distribution of fines is excellent, regardless of whether the grind is medium for a Hario V60 grinder or coarse for French presse. The grinder was tested on a medium grind with medium-roasted Kenyan grains.

After grinding 21 grams of coffee in 20 seconds, we used our Hario V60 infusion technique. The result was very full and balanced, with floral notes and a caramel taste that reminded us of Tootsie Rolls. It was a pleasure to consume. We then tried a French press coarse grind. In 60 seconds, we ground 75 grams of the same grains. Then, we used our standard French press infusion technique. This time the result was very different, but still quite interesting.

It had more acidity, bitterness, body and flavours, as well as fresh fig notes and body. It is also very enjoyable to drink. Overall, the Baratza Encore grinder’s medium and coarse grind quality impressed us greatly. It was also used for espresso, but the adjustments are too complicated to achieve a satisfying result. The Baratza Sette 270 offers a better alternative. The Baratza Encore is the easiest option.

The coffee hopper rotates on its own to adjust the grind. The smaller the number, the more coarse the grind. It is important to ensure that the grinder is not grinding coffee beans during adjustment. Otherwise, it will be harder as the grinds could be blocked by other grounds. To ensure a stable grind, grind some coffee after the adjustment.

Although the Baratza Encore was a well-designed machine, it did not impress us. This model is a reliable, simple burr grinder that will work well for you. However, if you are looking for outstanding performance in any category (grind consistency and user-friendliness), this model may not be the right choice. You will likely be happier with another machine. A burr grinder must grind consistently to be considered a quality product.

The Encore was not the best-performing burr model in our grind consistency testing but it still exceeded this standard with plenty of room. Although it produced more coffee dust than other burr models, the Encore still managed to achieve 69% of its ideal size range for grinding at a pour over grind size.

We had to experiment a lot to find the best settings to reduce the extra grinds. However, once we found the right setting (#10 seemed to work), the Encore produced consistent pour-over extraction times. This machine will provide consistent, predictable results for pour-over enthusiasts. The grinder has 40 grind settings and 40mm conical burrs. This machine is perfect for anyone who wants to make great coffee.
